The Space Between Your Ears

What appears as a bright
Sparkle in your eyes
Is a fierce, heavenly fire
Seen from many miles.

But if you seem so bright to me,
It gets too easy to forget
The attraction your heart holds
To others circling it.

Again the view's too narrow:
The massive power comes
From matters deep and dark
And arts' immortal sons.

Your feelings held in stasis
By so many diverse pulls,
Sustaining fragile balance
Between support and choking fragmentation.

May you gain degrees of freedom
To move with your own song.
Don't be put off by balls,
Find space where you belong.

Then may your light seem brighter
Through my closeness to your soul:
Not collision but meeting paths,
Where shooting stars touch tails.
