Shimmer

While winds blow
Violent roughness
And perplexing frets
Over a fragile calm,
Sun shining down
Reveals a gentle shimmer,
A flow of easy light,
Where little creatures thrive.

The way you smiled
As I kissed your half-sleeping cheek,
Slowly taking pleasure
In that quiet moment;
Despite your protestations,
And on-again-off-again kisses,
You shimmer so deep
When you put the light out.
